The Daily Whatever, Jun 17: genXy meets Gen X Crisis

From Iran, to climate change, to talking GenX with Rob Guess

It’s not everyday you get to connect with an old friend from highs school, but today we were lucky enough to do just that.

and I went to school with our guest, , and it was excellent to reconnect.

We started off reviewing some breaking news: Trump* left the G7 early for mysterious reasons, up to and including the possibility of a wider war with Iran. Additionally, I stumbled across this ‘stack this morning, and this post left me contemplating what any of it means if we’re predicting the collapse of human civilization in 25 years.

Once Rob joined, we had a great time catching up and realizing that despite years and miles, some elements of our paths had aligned, and we found ourselves similarly lost in the woods, as it were.

Rob released his podcast recording with Dana, and it’s fantastic. Take a listen, and be sure to subscribe to Gen-X Crisis! Tell ‘em genXy sent ya!

We had a fantastic time, and Rob was one more vote for Smells Like Teen Spirit as the ultimate GenX song. We can’t say as we blame him; this conversation, like all others, is to be continued….

* I intentionally strike out Trump’s name every time I type it because this is a spell in text form. He’s not worthy of existing or being named, even in text. He doesn’t exist.
