The Daily Whatever, July 19: A formal affair to celebrate 40 paid subs

With our 40th subscriber--and dear friend--Sunny Hong!

It’s not easy to arrive anywhere in formalwear by 9am.

But let this be known about

and me: We don’t shy away from hard things. Including ties and sequin on a Saturday morning.

A couple weeks back, we ask the “Whatevers”—our amazing Live audience members—what we should do to celebrate reaching milestones in our Summer Pledge Drive. The first suggestion was that we should show up for The Daily Whatever in cocktail attire.

This week, we hit our first fundraising goal: 40 paid subscribers.

So today, we brought it. We showed up in formalwear. I wore rose gold sequin. Lawrence worn a lovely grey suit and tie. I even brought bubbly, in a bespoke, bedazzled “40” glass.

Then we told stories, including the adventure of how Lawrence and I were once sorta-married, and then sorta-divorced, and how I stole his special blessed red love candle and then met my husband. (I still feel bad about that.)

We were also joined by my bestie

, who was our 40th paid subscriber! Together we shared more stories of our storied past, gave advice, and all-around rejoiced in this milestone.

Next stop: 50 paid subscribers! If we hit it, we’re gonna host a Live karaoke party and you’re all invited! And we’re already close, at 47 subs as of this writing. If you’d like to help get us over the line, here’s how you can support not only

, but also and me for just $22/year (for lifetime memberships):

Here’s how:

See more details here.

It looks like at 60 paid subs, we’re gonna host The Daily Whatever in bathrobes (thanks

) and at 70 paid subs, we’re gonna do the ice bucket challenge (thanks ). If you’ve got suggestions for things we should do, should we hit more milestones, please share them in the comments below.
