The Daily Whatever, July 18: Fucked-Up Friday with Nick Paro

TGIF! The great thing about Fridays is that here at The Daily Whatever, we use it as a time to process how unbelievably shitty our descent into authoritarianism has become. It’s a celebration of the worst of the worst news.

Dana DuBois and I were thrilled to welcome Nick Paro to the show, and get to know him as a community member (and a poet!) Nick shared his Kum ‘n’ Go tribute poem with us, and it was a great way to kick off our time with him.

• Nick: SCOTUS says Trump can dismantle the Department of Education.

• Dana: DOJ recommends the cop convicted of wrongfully killing Breonna Taylor should only get 1 day of jail time.

• Lawrence: The Judiciary Committee sends Emil Bove’s Federal bench nom to the full body, virtually guaranteeing that he will get seated, be a future SCOTUS nom.

The Chat voted, and I (Lawrence) won—but let’s face it, with news this bad, we all lose.
