Thank you to everyone who tuned into for our debut The Daily Whatever live podcast, and especially our real-life pals

, , and as well as Medium friend !

Today we discussed how suddenly, the news is like, paying attention to GenX? We’re not totally sure why. And sometimes, we hate it (hello, the whole “career meltdown” NYT story, bleh). But some of today’s stories were pretty great.

Lawrence brought a few fascinating GenX stories to our attention. The first was from Forbes, called 7 Critical Ways Gen X Strengthens Your Leadership Pipeline (that’s good!). The second was from Quartz, called Gen X was supposed to be peaking. Instead their careers and finances are tanking (that’s bad!). And finally, we’ve got this one from FinanceBuzz, Gen X Is Intimidated by These 8 Things at Work (But Gen Z Has No Problem With Them) (can we go now??).

And of course, our favorite Substack humorist

might be Xennial, but she wrote a deliriously funny missive about how GenX is feral and not to be fucked with. And we’re not mad about it.

(Aside to Robin: we totally need you to join The Daily Whatever to talk about your story. And you have to show up, because we are your GenX elders and you don’t want us to go full-feral on you.)

Speaking of fucking with—we also discussed who would hate-fuck Pete Hegseth. Turns out, we’re split on this crucial issue, and you’re gonna have to tune in to see who’s a yes.

And in the end, we talk about our latest stories (linked below), and what we’re writing about. We always want to hear about what you’re writing right now, as a rite, right? So please, drop links in the comments so we can go like/comment/restack.

Amber’s footsteps echo through the cavernous hallway. The air is cold and dry, and they can’t help but think of the inside of a long, hollow bone. The femur of an elephant, perhaps, long dead and empty of marrow, once part of a living, breathing thing, and now as lifeless and as sterile as this hallway in the ‘Kive. Amber remembers a scene from one of t…

That’s all for this episode, friends.

We’re gonna do this every weekday at 10am PT/7am PT—and as the night owl on the west coast, I can’t believe I’m committing to this.

I’m viewing it as my intellectual, emotional, and social daily wake-up call—literally.

More tomorrow!

Love you mean it!!
