I remember reading that researchers were working with mRNA for an HIV vaccine for a long time (like two decades) and that helped with the rapid development of the COVID vaccine using the mRNA technology. I was reading a lot of medical studies about cancer because my wife and I were living in the hospital as my daughter was going through a lot of chemotherapy and ultimately a bone marrow transplant which basically saved her life. Anyway this was back in 2019 and at that time I don’t think they had been successful with a vaccine for HIV but from what you said it sounds like they have something that can now protect against HIV which is great.
