Well I have not read your story Lawrence but I am excited too. I love the podcast. I will say that hearing about the political climate and how they relate to your stories along with real life issues in our current reality are very grounding!

I know a pediatric trans male and I know his family is very worried and scared.

I live in IL which is a very blue state and I have talked to people thinking about leaving Missouri who live in the stlouis area. I was born in 1981 I am millennial technically but i remember so much of the 80’s that I end up identifying with most GenXers. My genx songs are ( men without hats safety dance) as a song I liked as a kid but when I was old enough to get into a gay bar this song was well played! Also (REM loosing my religion) speaks well of how I was coping as a young gay men brought up in a Pentecostal home whose dad was a preacher. As I discovered who I was I felt like I had lost my religion. Now I have discovered by faith as a gay affirming Christian) I had to lose my old religion to find my new one. I had to leave the old interpretation of what my faith was for what is.

Thank you so much for the deep and insightful comment, Jason! You’re the kind of person we’re doing this for—someone with a lot of lived experience who can relate to what we’re talking about, and who has great, grounded ideas. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the story, and again, thanks for your thoughtful comment!
