This is totally bonkers, and dangerous af. My conspiracy mind is wondering if this is intentional setups to cause those women harm. Either way, it’s horrific!

AI telling people to delete themselves, and now setting up women to be in situations that could end up tragic. It's brutally disgusting.

Avoid AI like the plague that is it. Melissa Corrigan wrote today in an essay that AI deliberately omitted facts when she did research. When she pushed, AI lied!

Nothing is PRIVATE - people don't realise that EVERYthing they say to AI is NOT PRIVATE

Don't court a machine(it never ends well)

AI is a risk for your privacy, security, creativity and sense of self

Avoid AI like the plague!

Haha he didn’t exist!!!!!!! That shit is wild. 😜 haha 😂 you would’ve been better off with one of the Nigerian princes from Nigeria asking you to send them $500

Stop calling LLMs AI!!! (To everyone, not just you.)

Stop saying LLMs are capable of “knowing” anything whatsoever!

They don’t “know” just enough to trick us; they know nothing. They are a mathematical matrix that probabilistically strings words together, often intelligibly.

Lots of women and children died from seatbelt injuries before the federal government forced companies to crash test on more than just male dummies.

Good points, but also—the name of the tool was Dating AI. Check the screenshots. 😊

Calling a thing AI doesn’t make it AI, and other people calling LLMs: ‘AI’ doesn’t make it AI, and even though it may be named AI, it’s obviously not AI, but most pertinently it’s a net-negative to society to indulge whomever termed it AI.

I feel this! I recently got sucked into the dating app OurLove.com through an ad on Facebook Reels. I thought it seemed similar to Our Time (that dating site for us Gen-Xers) and what the heck, it had been a few years since I swore off dating apps (the sexual deviance of divorced middle-aged men with unresolved mental health and/or addiction issues was seriously freaking me out!) So in a late night frenzy of hormones and hope I created my account, entered my credit card info, and within seconds was flooded with multiple chat requests from gorgeous looking, well-educated, world traveling men! Trying to keep up multiple chats was tough, especially when some would ask where I went if I didn’t respond within 30 seconds. There were several red flags - 99% of the men lived in other countries, the photos and profiles were all too good to be true, their interest was too intense, too quickly but my blood was pumping! Except every few minutes I would get a pop-up window saying I had to spend more $ to keep chatting. So I would re-enter my CC but then I would get an “unable to process” error message and a fraud alert from my bank. I thought it was a glitch so I tried another card, and another, and another, all with the same results. As this is happening I can see there are even more messages in my inbox/chat screen and I thought it I was really connecting with a few guys. I was able to send my actual email address to one and said the website was being weird and he could just send me a message via email. He said he wanted to stay on the site (which is the opposite of all my previous dating app experiences where the scammers try to get you off the dating app 😵‍💫). Anyway, after about an hour and too much $$$ I realized the fraud notifications were the Universe’s way of saving me further self destruction, I gave up an went to bed. Next morning I googled OurLove and scam and found out it is a scam (shocker 🤪!) made up of photos of models and chat bots. I felt really stupid and ashamed for falling for it, and I had to go to my bank to request new credit and debit cards and get my accounts unblocked. UGH!

I usually don’t drop articles into comment threads but the good folks at After Babel just posted an article about Meta’s deliberate marketing to minors despite knowing the data on targeting for human trafficking. I know this isn’t a new story.

My FB has been mostly deactivated for months but the AI situation is the nail in the coffin for me. I’m downloading the photos I want to save and deleting my facebook account permanently this weekend.
