Dementia, Death, and Deceit: Three Dad Stories for Father's Day
A little light reading ahead of our Live podcast with the Opinionated Ogre tomorrow...
Happy almost Father’s Day!
Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 11),
and I are thrilled to bring back to our Live podcast, The Daily Whatever. We originally asked the Ogre because he’s an incredible father, and we wanted a story to balance our painful ones. But then he shared the story of his own father with us, and… wow. We realized we three share a pained history with our dads.
But more importantly—we share a wish to heal generational wounds, and to parent (and uncle) from a place of hard-earned wisdom and clarity, not trauma.
Revisiting our origin stories to write about them has helped us each process our upbringings and the hardships that lived where paternal love should be. We’re going to share and unpack our stories in greater detail tomorrow on the Live podcast, and we welcome you to join us and share your own stories.
We’d love if you’d read our stories first, so you’ll arrive with some context:
