This may be my favorite piece of yours, Dana. So so so good from start to finish.
The Cure has been so damn good for so long. Sadly, I've never seen them live. Maybe one day I'll get the chance. Until then, I have Apple Music for a reason.
Thanks, Steve! It’s one of my favorites I’ve ever written. It was the first time I wrote memoir in present tense when I wrote it for medium in 2023. Took many weeks to sort it all out! 🖤
I love this SO much! As a Cure fan from the 80's, to my labor with my firstborn in the fall of '97 I have a different motherhood story. The first track from Wild Mood Swings (I am confident that was the album and the release date aligns) kept coming on. I was out of my mind (my labors were hard and fast) and my husband couldn't get it to turn off, and I swear I was going crawl to the disc player and smash it to pieces because I could not take the cacophony and contractions. I had to go on a hiatus from my beloved band but listening to it now makes me question if I have the right album and song because I can't hear what I heard then. SO many memories and feelings are conjured when The Cure plays.
My favorite band from the old days by far. Disintegration was so visceral. I remember moping in my bedroom, listening to the CD over and over and over again. To be fair in my first apartment I had a ginormous The Head on the Door poster a wonderful friend gave me. It was the same night we decorated my first Christmas tree with jewelry and silverware . 🤭
Disintegration is a masterpiece, but man, Head on the Door is sooo good! "Push" is one of my fave songs by the band.
No arguments here!!
The Head on the Door is incredible. 100% agree. The Cure resonated with me as a whole as well as with my group of misfit friends.

Keep on keeping on, D.

Well, you nailed it. Congrats! (I always like to write in the present tense when I can.)
