Hi Brandon - yeah, I still love that all these TV/movie guest stars came on The Muppet Show regularly to get some exposure and to play with the puppets.
I adore this story Joe! What an inspirational guy Kermit is. My nickname for my hubby is Froggy and we often sing Kermit's song "it's not easy being green" a bit silly, but it's fun. There's something very special about Kermit and the muppets.
I remember being at work when I heard on the radio that Jim Henson died. I broke into tears. Not because I knew him, but because I was sad for what we would never get. Yes, Kermit, Earnie, Swedish Chef, Rowlf the Dog, and others lost their original voice, but it was more than that. The vision that created Muppets, Dark Crystal, Fraggles, and Labyrinth, plus helped with Star Wars creatures, and so many other background characters and effects. That vision was lost to the world. I often wonder what he would have thought about "The Happytime Murders". Pushing muppets to do an R-rated movie (many of Henson's people were part of it). He was a man of vision, who tried and succeeded creating things that only others dream of. Like many of us in Gen-X, this was a loss that we felt, but seldom speak of. We still have the music, movies, and the memories.
Yes, I loved The Muppet Show and the movies. Loved the song as well. I used to know all the words, but I'd have to look them up now.

One of my favorite childhood songs!
What a cool story! Thank you. You not only found the rainbow connection. You kept it.
Thanks, Polly. You know, I guess I did, didn't it?
I'd say so. I will also mention that I read an article of yours on the Huffington Post a few days ago, which I also enjoyed.

I adore their sweet irreverence and humor. And "it's not easy being green" is a superb song and mantra to revisit!

It sure did feel like such a loss - as you said, for all the ideas and creations we'd miss out on.
