I have a soft spot for "A Chicken with Its Head Cut Off" because it reminds me of the craziness of being young. We put "I Don't Believe in the Sun" on a Winter Solstice mix years ago so it is on regular rotation during the holidays. Other faves include "The Book of Love" and "The Death of Ferdinand de Saussure" just for the lyrics and hooks. I checked his tour schedule and he's in town next week! The stars have aligned!
I can totally relate to concerts/music/records being church and religion. I’ve said that before in some of my writing. I hope your dear friend will settle ok Midwest. Glad you had that little SF trip.
I'm mad I missed the shows near me but I have so many concerts and my own readings and festivals just about every week now. The documentary on Merritt is streaming on Tubi or one of those. Great reminder of how Magnetic Fields were often stuck on bills with completely different bands back in the day in Massachusetts.
25 years!?!? Definitely defines that era of my life.
Right?? What are your favorite tracks? I love meeting fellow MF fans!!
